Media and Entertainment Rendering: Contain Yourself

The use of containerization is widespread, but it is particularly beneficial to the media and entertainment (M&E) industry. Companies that rightfully make the move to a hybrid server farm but are not using a containerized approach to rendering are missing out on time and cost saving benefits.

Speed and savings

Containers make it possible to scale up numerous app functions without affecting an entire application. Containers are fast, spinning up (the time it takes from start to usable) in just one second. They can easily be scaled up or down for rapid resource addition or removal, with no need for additional server set up or configuration.

When demand for more instances increases, more containers can be created quickly. Likewise, multiple containers can be cleared once demand subsides—providing additional savings on cloud usage expense.

Security

Very much in the way that blockchain provides improved security in a growing number of industries, containers provide vital security for content files by empowering process separation and isolation. By leveraging disparate container access, managers have proactive control of which users see what, when, and how others may interact with containerized files.

Proven optimal

Containerization has been used, tested, and optimized for more than a decade. In fact, Google runs all of its products on containers including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), YouTube, and search with over 2B containers started weekly. Among GCP, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and others, there is no shortage of containerization support providers in the cloud. The key is to understand how to fully utilize containers for true rendering farm optimization.

SoftServe’s media services team are experts at hybrid farm and containerization optimization and are currently developing hybrid+ rendering services for clients in the M&E space. Read more in our latest white paper, “IT’S ABOUT TIME”.
