SoftServe Chile launches second edition of the "Journalism For The Future" contest
SANTIAGO, Chile (October 14, 2024) – Journalism focused on technology is essential to understanding the challenges of the future. In this context, SoftServe has announced the second edition of its "Journalism for the Future" contest in Chile, which aims to recognize and reward excellence in journalism, highlighting those who promote innovation and help build a more informed and connected future.
The contest invites journalists from print, television, radio, and digital media to submit their work from early October through mid-November across four categories. The winner will enjoy an all-inclusive weekend for two at an exclusive hotel, as well as gain visibility and recognition within the industry, plus the chance to connect with industry leaders and experts. The categories include:
- New Technologies: Articles exploring the impact and application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT)
- Future of Work: Stories analyzing how technologies are transforming work models and creating new dynamics in the workplace
- Innovation for Sustainability: Pieces highlighting technological solutions that promote sustainability throughout the value chain, addressing environmental and social challenges
- Technologies for Education: Content showcasing how technology can enhance the quality and accessibility of education, facilitating teaching and learning in various contexts
"At SoftServe, we believe journalists play a critical role in communicating the impact of emerging technologies. They don’t just inform; they also educate and connect audiences to the trends and challenges of the future," said Jaime Oviedo, Vice President and Country Manager Chile at SoftServe.
The jury for this second edition will include Rocío Alondra, President of the Chilean Journalists’ Association; Alejandra Mustakis, entrepreneur and former president of ASECH; Barbarita Lara, CEO of EMERCOM and leader of the S!E project; and Jaime Oviedo, Country Manager of SoftServe Chile. They will evaluate the entries and announce the winner in December 2024.
The first edition received over 60 submissions and highlighted journalists such as Paloma Ávila from CNN Futuro, Andrea Urrejola from El Mercurio, and Daniel Silva, host of Planeta Futuro on Megamedia, for their outstanding coverage of technology and innovation.
