SANTIAGO, Chile (July 23, 2024)— Following the rise of Generative Artificial Intelligence and the surge in data analysis, the IT industry has seen a significant increase in the demand for workers, technicians, and professionals in the sector. According to estimates from the Chilean Association of Information Technology Companies (ACTI), the personnel deficit reached 10,000 workers in 2023, far exceeding the 6,000 projected annually since 2015.

With this challenge in mind, SoftServe Chile has announced the launch of its “Talent Acceleration Program” in Ñuble, with the goal of training young regional talent in advanced technical skills and providing practical experience in real-world technology projects.

"In times of economic uncertainty, our commitment is clear: to create opportunities and train the next generation of IT professionals. With the launch of this program in Ñuble, we aim not only to close the talent gap in the industry but also to provide young people in the region with a solid platform to develop their skills and contribute to the growth of a sector that is crucial to Chile's future," said Jaime Oviedo, Country Manager of SoftServe Chile.

In this regard, the Acting Director of InvestChile, Juan Pablo Candia, commented that "This type of initiative confirms the importance of the role that foreign companies can play in our country; not only through the development of their operations in Chile but also by contributing concretely to strengthening the economic fabric of our regions. In this sense, SoftServe's program is an excellent example, as it provides specific opportunities for our young talent to be exported to the world and projected into the future," he assured.

"SoftServe, a globally recognized company for its innovation and excellence in technology, has chosen our region to implement this program, reaffirming its commitment to talent development and capacity building in the youth of Ñuble. This free scholarship will not only allow our students to improve their skills in a language crucial to the modern job market, but it will also open doors to future professional opportunities," highlighted the Regional Minister of Economy, Erick Solo de Zaldívar.

Contribution to Employability

With 150 available spots, the program is aimed at recent graduates and final-year students in Information Technology or Programming fields, who are proficient in English. Between August and November, they will be guided by a mentor who will provide support to enhance their skills in some of the most sought-after fields in the market.

"This program offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates and final-year students to train in the technologies that the industry is demanding. We will work with the participants to take their skills to the next level through real projects, which could be the start of a brilliant career for the most outstanding talents in the region," said Alejandro Zeballos, Country Learning & Talent Development at SoftServe Chile.

At the end of the first stage of the program in November, the best students will have the opportunity to participate in a paid internship at SoftServe starting in March 2025.
