BUCHAREST, Romania (September 10, 2024) – SoftServe announces its support the seventh edition of the ANIS Grants program, initiated by the Romanian Software and Services Industry Association (ANIS), which provides grants to young Romanian academics to encourage research and development of innovative methods in university education. This year, with the support of some of the top companies in the industry, including SoftServe, ANIS was able to offer 14 grants, the highest number ever.

In 2024, SoftServe will sponsor the grant for the winning project in the Big Data category, a crucial sector for technological advancement. According to the regulation, each of the 14 selected projects will receive a €5,000 sponsorship, providing teachers with the resources they need to introduce innovative technologies and methods into their courses.

Dan Paraschiv, Country Manager of SoftServe Romania, underlined the importance of supporting academic education through this initiative: "We are glad to have the chance to support this valuable program that helps young teachers in their efforts to deepen their knowledge of new technologies and develop their teaching process. Continuous development is one of SoftServe's pillars and supporting education is a priority for us."

"Education is fundamental for progress - both individually and collectively for us as a society. By supporting the ANIS grants program we facilitate continous education for university professors and encourage the development of teaching methods, fostering the evolution of the way we learn and teach in academia, aligned with the industry dynamics. Furthermore, the ANIS program enables the increasingly advanced linking of academia and the private sector, opening the doors to transparent communication, the exploration of innovation and the integration of new cutting-edge technologies into university education. Furthermore, all these developments are advancing the skills and knowledge of students, preparing the new generations for a future of fast paced innovation," added Dan Paraschiv.

Application and eligibility criteria

Academics wishing to participate can apply to one of the following categories: Big Data, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Internet of Things, HealthTech, Cloud Computing and Tech for All (technology in non-IT faculties). To be eligible, applicants must be up to 40 years old, be a full professor, assistant professor or PhD candidate and demonstrate that their proposals bring innovative elements to the 2024-2025 university curriculum.

Applications can be submitted until September 23, 2024, and the winners will be announced at the ANIS Fellowships Gala on November 7, 2024.

Evaluation process

All submitted projects will be evaluated on the basis of a written application and a video in which the candidates present the innovative aspects of the proposed courses or laboratories. The evaluation process will include an analysis of the innovative character, course structure and objectives, and teaching methods. Finalists will be interviewed by members of the evaluation committee in October and the grants will be awarded in November.
