Ukrainian IT teachers will receive grants in the amount of $10,000
The $10,000 grant fund will be distributed equally among the 5 best projects within SoftServe's Education Grants initiative.
The finalists are five teachers from Lviv Polytechnic National University, Chernivtsi National University, Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, and Zaporizhzhia National University. Teachers from almost 50 Ukrainian universities took part in the project and submitted 84 applications.
The jury of the company's internal experts evaluated the courses on such criteria as innovation of the idea, its integrity and scalability, regional component, and teaching competencies necessary on real projects. The evaluation took place in several stages – applications, evaluation of projects based on the competitive questionnaire, and interviews with teachers whose ideas received the highest number of points.
"This year, SoftServe held a grant competition for university teachers for the first time. Our task was to find innovators and support their ideas, helping with the implementation. After all, we strive to make Ukrainian IT education competitive globally. And this can be achieved only in tight cooperation between IT companies and the education sector," comments Galyna Datsiv, Vice President of Development and Training at SoftServe.
Some of the upgraded and new educational programs will start this year. There will be even more of them, as the company plans to continue the competition and hold a new one in the first half of 2022.
About the project
"Educational Grants" is a unique SoftServe program for university teachers, first launched in 2021. It provides for monetary support for teachers to develop a new or upgrade existing technical course, which are taught within such specialties as: applied mathematics, engineering software, computer science, information systems and technologies, computer engineering, cybersecurity, applied linguistics, etc.
